Abstract
The critical issues of fossil fuels are their limited natural sources and contribution to the increase of atmospheric greenhouse gases. To solve those issues, hydrogen is being developed as a promising alternative fuel, and the conversion of CO2 into valuable materials is considered as an effective approach to control the emission of greenhouse gases. Furthermore, solar energy is the largest energy source and technologies are being developed to exploit solar energy efficiently. In this talk, Prof. Hu will discuss his research on: (1) design and synthesis of 3D graphene for solar energy conversion and electrical energy storage and (2) temperature-induced visible light photocatalytic production of hydrogen from water.
Biography of Yun-Hang Hu
Dr. Yun-Hang Hu is the chair of the Energy and Fuels Division of the American Chemical Society (ACS), the chair of the Hydrogen Storage Division of International Association of Hydrogen Energy (IAHE), a fellow of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a fellow of Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), and the inaugural Charles and Carroll McArthur Chair Professor at Michigan Technological University. He was an organizer and chair for 30 international symposia, an editor for four ACS series books, and an editorial board member for numerous international journals, including “Scientific Report”(Nature Group), “Journal of Materials Chemistry A” (RSC), “International Journal of Energy Research” (Wiley), and “Catalysis Today” (Elsevier). He received his B. Sc. in chemistry from Jiangxi University (Nanchang University), M. Sc. in chemistry from Institute of Coal Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Ph. D. in physical chemistry from Xiamen University. His main research interests range from nanomaterials, Catalysis, clean fuels, hydrogen storage materials, CO2 conversion, quantum chemistry calculations to solar energy conversion.
胡云行博士是美国化学会能源与燃料分会主席,国际氢气能源协会氢气储氢分会主席,美国科学促进会会士 (AAAS Fellow),英国皇家化学会会士 (RSC Fellow),美国密歇根理工大学首任麦克阿瑟讲席教授。他先后主持过30 次国际学术会议。他是4本美国化学会系列丛书的主编,多个国际学术杂志的编委,期中包括自然的《Scientific Report》,英国皇家化学会的《Journal of Materials Chemistry A》, Wiley 的《International Journal of Energy Research》 和 Elsevier 的《Catalysis Today》。他获江西大学(现在的南昌大学)化学学士学位,中国科学院煤炭化学研究所化学硕士学位,厦门大学物理化学博士学位。他的研究包括纳米材料、催化、清洁能源,储氢材料、二氧化碳转化、量子化学计算和太阳能转化等。
